KA PLAY ANTHOLOGY:

Esther Kim Lee (Associate Prof of Theater at Univ of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign) has announced the final line-up for the 12 plays that will be included in her upcoming anthology KOREAN AMERICAN DRAMA: TWELVE CONTEMPORARY PLAYS FROM THE AMERICAS.   Lodestone will be represented in the anthology with LAUGHTER JOY... which had its world premiere here.   The final line-up is:

CALL FOR FILM ENTRIES:

Northwest Asian American Film Festival is now accepting entries for films on subjects related to the Asian Pacific American experience. Along with screenings of curated and selected works from the Pacific Northwest and North America, the four-day film festival will offer a variety of social events and programs relating to Asian American media.


Submission Format: DVD or URL link (to YouTube, Google Video etc.)

Genres: Short; Experimental; Documentary; Narrative

Screening Format: 35mm; 16mm; mini DV; DVD

Deadline: December 5, 2008


INSTRUCTIONS FOR SUBMISSION:


1) Complete and send the entry form to NWAAFF 2009 (form is available on our web site www.nwaaff.org)

2) Send your film to NWAAFF 2009:

• DVD sent by mail to NWAAFF, 1463 E. Republican St. #106, Seattle, WA 98112. Please indicate the film's title and contact information on the tape/disc.

• As a URL where your film can be viewed online (e.g. YouTube, Google Video, etc.).


Please do not include additional promotional materials.


DEADLINES: Mailed entries must be postmarked and electronic entries must be sent no later than December 5, 2008. Receipt of entries will be confirmed via email. Final selections will be announced in late December/early January.


ENTRY FEE: There is no entry fee for this year's festival.

CALL FOR PERFORMERS:

Boston Court Performing Arts Center seeks local applicants for its 2009 "ARTTalk." ARTTalk is part of Pasadena ARTWeekend.


"ARTTalk" is scheduled to take place in the Marjorie Branson Performance Space at Boston Court on Saturday, March 14th, 2009 from 11:00am until 5:00pm. Participants will be allotted one half hour to perform a piece that focuses on Words and Communication. All performances must be acoustical in nature. Boston Court will provide general lighting and no rehearsal time is allotted.


Previous performance genres include poetry, storytelling, singing, and theatrical performances. Participants will be provided a small stipend. Please send proposals to Meg Hackney, Events Manager at Boston Court Performing Arts Center, P.O. Box 60187, Pasadena, CA 91116-6187 or megh@bostoncourt.meg. Proposals should be submitted no later than December 5th, 2008.


ARTTalk is produced by the Playhouse District Association and Boston Court Performing Arts Center.


ACTING CLASS WITH DOM MAGWILI:

The next session begins Monday, November 10, 2008, 7PM to 10 PM. The session runs for SIX (6) Mondays. Classes are at the Hollywood Japanese Cultural Institute, 3929 Middlebury (near LACCC).
