TeleMongol
written by Cold Tofu, OPM, 18MMW
directed by Henry Chan
November 11th through Dec 17th, 2006

TeleMongol uses the sketch comedy format to tell the story of AHOLE-TV (Asia Home of Language Entertainment), a fictional cable network with a mission to create programming by and for the Asian Pacific American community. The show takes a satirical look at both the behind-the-scenes politicking at the station and the programs chosen to air. Skewering everything from the issues faced by ethnic media to well-known icons like American Idol reject William Hung and North Korean dictator Kim Jong-Il, TeleMongol promises to be an irrelevant look at contemporary Asian American pop culture. To create the show, writers from each of the four groups met regularly over the course of several months to collaboratively pen the pieces that will make up the production. Veteran TV director Henry Chan was then tapped to direct. For six years, Chan was the principal director for the UPN sitcom Moesha (starring Brandy) and his other directing credits include helming episodes of The King of Queens, Scrubs and Lloyd Suh’s play Masha No Home for East West Players.

The Mikado Project
written by Doris Baizley, Ken Narasaki
directed by Chil Kong
April 14th through May 20th, 2007

Lodestone’s first musical production, The Mikado Project follows a struggling Asian American theater company as it tries to create its own deconstructed, politicized version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s classic “Japanese” musical The Mikado, while dealing with grant deadlines, interpersonal problems, sexual/political issues and an ex-lead actor-turned-TV star-turned-has-been.

Trojan Women
written by Euripides
translated by Kenneth Cavender
directed by Alberto Isaac
August 4th through August 26th, 2007

The Trojan Women focuses on the women of Troy as they await their grim fate after their city has been destroyed by war and their men killed in battle. Considered one of the great works of Western dramatic literature, scholar Edith Hamilton considered Euripides’ work ìthe greatest piece of anti-war literature there is in the world.î  Veteran theater director Alberto Isaac, who will helm this production, was initially approached by Chung and asked if there was a play he had always wanted to direct. Isaac chose Euripides’ work because of its relevance to our current history.2006TeleMongol.html2006Mikado.html2006TrojanWoman.html2006TeleMongol.html2006Mikado.html2006TrojanWoman.htmlshapeimage_3_link_0shapeimage_3_link_1shapeimage_3_link_2
