Comedy Jam
produced by Erin Quill, Phil Young
May 10th 2003

All-Star Asian American Comedy Jam will be hosted by Gedde Watanabe (ER, Edtv), who in an ironic twist of fate portrayed the stereotype ìLong Duk Dongî in Sixteen Candles – a never-to-be-forgotten bane to many Asian American boys growing up in this country. Headlining All-Star Asian American Comedy Jam will be comedians Alec Mapa (UPN’s Half and Half, as well as the highly acclaimed one-man shows Mapa Mia! and I Remember Mapa) – in a rare stand-up appearance – and Mad TV’s Bobby Lee, whose stand-up routines have been featured on The Tonight Show, NBC’s Late Night and Comedy Central’s Premium Blend.

The All-Star Asian American Comedy Jam would not be complete without the comic talents of Mark Fernandez – winner of NBC’s comedy search, Dr. Ken Jeong, Kayo, Phil Nee from the comedy improv group Cold Tofu, Dan Gabriel, Amy Anderson and Dat Phan.

When Tigers Smoked Long Pipes
written by Angela Kang
directed by Robert Shinso
June 14th through July 20th, 2003

"When Tigers Smoked Long Pipes" is a magical journey combining elements of narrative style, movement and music - bringing to life Korean folktale figures such as the cunning Tiger, the strong single Mother, the patriarchal God, the hapless young Woodcutter and the brave and devoted Maiden. In exploring and reinterpreting creation myths and love stories with a very contemporary and multicultural edge, the play presents the world as a place where the miraculous coexists with the mundane and the silly with the sublime. 2002Freak.html2002Comedy.html2002Tigers.html2002Freak.html2002Comedy.html2002Tigers.htmlshapeimage_3_link_0shapeimage_3_link_1shapeimage_3_link_2
